IYRU Speed Sailing Rules
IYRU Speed Sailing Rules
The IYRA (International Yacht Rules Association), based in england,
specifies the record rules and ratifies the world speed records.
To be considered as a valid record, the following points must be joined:
- Presence of an official IYRU/WSSRC (International
Yacht Racing Union/World Sailing Speed Record Council) Member
- Official Measurement of a 500 Meters Distance.
- Measurement systems Calibration.
- Radio Measurement equipment at start and finish line.
- Officialization of the sailing speed by the IYRU/WSSRC.
Worlds records can be established in the following classes (as a function
of sail surface):
- Classe A ......... from 10.00 to 13.94m2 (149.2ft2)
- Classe B ......... from 13.94 to 21.84m2 (233.7ft2)
- Classe C ......... from 21.84 to 27.88m2 (298.3ft2)
- Classe D ......... from 27.88m2
